Check whether your WordPress cache is working

Read the x-litespeed-cache header in your browser or on the command line to see whether a page came from the cache, and what to do when it did not.

  1. Use a signed-out browser

Signed-in visitors are never served a cached page by default, so test in a private window or after signing out of WordPress.

  2. Load the page twice

The first request after a purge builds the page and stores it. Reload once so the second request can be answered from the cache.

  3. Read the response header

Open developer tools, choose the Network tab, select the page request and find x-litespeed-cache in the response headers. hit means served from the cache; miss means built by WordPress.

  4. Or ask from the command line

Run curl -sI followed by the page address and look for the same header. Running it twice shows the miss turning into a hit.

  5. If it never says hit

Check the status panel for the page cache in use, then check the Exclusions tab and your cookies — a cart or login cookie in the browser will always bypass the cache.
