WP Super Cache writes static HTML files. Zinn® Cache adds a Redis object cache and purging by tag, and its Pro add-on adds warm-up and asset optimisation.

The short answer

WP Super Cache writes simple static pages and little else. Zinn® Cache adds a Redis object cache and smart purging in the same free plugin, so you need fewer plugins in total.

Why people choose Zinn® Cache over WP Super Cache

A Redis object cache is included, which WP Super Cache does not offer.

Tag-based purging clears just the pages a change touched, instead of whole folders of the cache.

On LiteSpeed servers it uses the server's own cache, which serves pages without starting PHP at all.

Where it is the better choice

WP Super Cache, from Automattic, is simple and works on nearly any host. If all you need is static page files on an Apache server, it does that with very little to configure.

Where Zinn® Cache fits

It does not include an object cache, tag-based purging or asset optimisation, so a site usually needs further plugins for those. Zinn® Cache covers the cache in one free plugin, and Pro covers the rest.

How to switch from WP Super Cache in three steps

  1. Install Zinn® Cache, keep it switched off

Add the free plugin from your WordPress dashboard. Before you turn it on, note which pages WP Super Cache leaves uncached — cart, checkout, account pages — so you can check they stay uncached after the move.

  2. Deactivate WP Super Cache, then turn Zinn® Cache on

Never run two page caches at once. Deactivate WP Super Cache first, then switch Zinn® Cache on. Shop and signed-in visitors are left out of the cache by default.

  3. Check it is working

Open your site in a private window and reload: the status panel shows which page cache is in use, and the guide on checking your cache shows how to read the response headers. Then delete WP Super Cache for good.

Questions about switching from WP Super Cache

Can I run Zinn® Cache and WP Super Cache together?

Not as two page caches — two caches storing the same page fight each other and make problems hard to find. Deactivate WP Super Cache before you switch Zinn® Cache on.

Is Zinn® Cache really free?

Yes. The page cache, tag-based purging, the Redis object cache and shop-safe exclusions are free for good, with no licence key. Zinn® Cache Pro is an optional add-on from $49 a year, with a free trial and no card needed.

Will my site be faster than with WP Super Cache?

Any good page cache makes the biggest difference: on our own measured test a cached page started arriving in 40 ms instead of 107 ms. How Zinn® Cache compares with WP Super Cache on your site depends on your host and theme, so measure before and after — the benchmark page shows how.
